She added sugar icing for his hair, mouth, and clothes, and she used candy chips for buttons and eyes. What a fine looking gingerbread man he was! The old woman put him in the oven to bake. After he was fully done, she slowly opened the oven door. Up jumped the gingerbread man, and he ran out the door saying,

"I ran away from an old woman. I ran away from an old man. I ran away from a cow. I ran away from a horse, and I can run away from you! I can!"
And so he ran singing,
"Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me! I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

The Gingerbread Man was proud that he could run so fast.
"Nobody can catch me," he thought.
So he kept on running until he met a fox. He just had to tell the fox how he ran faster than all the others.
"Mr. Fox," he said, "As tasty as I appear to be. I cannot let you catch and eat me. I ran away from an old woman. I ran away from an old man. I ran away from a cow. I ran away from a horse. I ran away from a chicken, and I can run away from you! I can!"
But Mr. Fox did not seem to care.
"Why would I want to bother you?" asked Mr. Fox. "You don't even look that tasty. No, young man, I don't want to eat you at all."
The Gingerbread Man was so relieved.
"Well, indeed, Mr. Fox," said the Gingerbread Man. "If you don't mind, I think I'll take a little rest here."
So the Gingerbread Man stopped running and stood still. And right when he stood still...SNAP! went Mr. Fox's jaws right into the Gingerbread Man until he was gone.
"He was very tasty after all," thought the fox.

No puedes alcanzarme.
No puedes alcanzarme.
No puedes alcanzarme.
No puedes alcanzarme.
No puedes alcanzarme.
— ¡NUNCA me alcanzarán ahora!
ENGLISH
The Story of The Gingerbread Man
Once upon a time, a little old woman and a little old man lived in a little old cottage on the top of a flowery hill, which was surrounded by golden fields, forests, and streams. The little old woman loved to bake, and one day she decided to make a gingerbread man. She shaped his head and his body, his arms and his legs. She added juicy raisins for his eyes and mouth, and a row down the front for the buttons on his jacket. Then she put on a cinnamon drop for his nose. At last, she put him in the oven to bake.
The kitchen filled with the warm smell of spices, and when the gingerbread man was crisp and brown, the little old woman opened the oven door. Out jumped the gingerbread man, who ran away, chanting, "Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!" The little old woman ran, but the Gingerbread Man ran faster.
As the Gingerbread Man ran through the flowers and down the hill, he met a duck who said, "Quack, quack! You smell delicious! Stop, little Gingerbread Man! I would like to eat you!" But the little Gingerbread Man ran on, singing, "I've run away from the little old woman and I can run away from you, too! Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!" The duck quickly waddled after him, but the Gingerbread Man ran faster.
When the Gingerbread Man ran through the golden fields, he met a pig cutting straw. The pig said, "Oink, oink! You smell delicious! Stop, little Gingerbread Man! I would like to eat you!" But the little Gingerbread Man ran on, singing, "I've run away from the little old woman and the waddling duck. I can run away from you, too! Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!" The pig pranced after him, but the Gingerbread Man ran faster.
In the cool shade of the forest, a lamb was nibbling leaves. When she saw the Gingerbread Man, she said, "Baa, baa! You smell delicious! Stop, little Gingerbread Man! I would like to eat you!" But the little Gingerbread Man ran on, singing, "I've run away from the little old woman and the waddling duck and the prancing pig. I can run away from you, too! Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!" The lamb leapt after him, but the little Gingerbread Man ran faster.
Up ahead, the Gingerbread Man could see a rippling river. He looked back over his shoulder to see everyone running after him. "Stop! Stop!" cried the old woman. "Quack! Quack!" honked the duck. "Oink! Oink!" snorted the pig. "Baa! Baa!" bleated the lamb. But the Gingerbread Man laughed, and continued toward the river.
Next to the river, he spied a fox lying on the bank. He sang to the fox, "I've run away from the little old woman and the waddling duck and the prancing pig and the leaping lamb. I can run away from you, too! Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me. I'm the Gingerbread Man!" But the sly fox grinned and said, "Wait, Gingerbread Man. I'm your friend! I will help you across the river. Jump onto my tail!" The Gingerbread Man looked behind him to see the little old woman, the duck, the pig, and the lamb getting closer. He jumped onto the fox's fluffy tail, and the fox swam out into the river.
Halfway across the river, the fox said, "Gingerbread man, the water is deeper than I thought. Hop onto my back so you won't get wet!" The Gingerbread Man hopped onto the fox's back. After a few more strokes, the fox said, "Gingerbread Man, the water is getting even deeper. Hop up onto on my head!" "Ha, ha!" laughed the Gingerbread Man, "They'll NEVER get me now!"
"You're right!" shrieked the fox, and he threw back his head back, tossed the Gingerbread Man into the air, and let him fall back into his mouth. With a mighty CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH, the fox ate the Gingerbread Man all up.
The little old woman walked back home and decided to bake a gingerbread cake, instead.
